Last Urartian Castle in Türkiye Resists Time

Tomisa Castle, the last standing fortress of the Urartians in the western region, has withstood the test of time for over 3,000 years since its establishment in Elazığ Türkiye. Situated in the Geli hamlet of Topaluşağı village, Baskil district, the castle has been utilized by various civilizations following the Urartians. Although only a few walls of the castle remain, they have miraculously stood the test of time. Overlooking the Euphrates river, the castle boasts a stunning view, further adding to its allure.

As a first-degree protected area, plans are underway to develop the castle into a tourist attraction.
