The lava released from a fissure that formed after the eruption of the volcano near the town of Grindavik on the Reykjanes Peninsula reached the town. The house closest to the fissure caught fire. Icelandic Prime Minister Katrn Jakobsdttir stated that the government will meet to discuss issues regarding the accommodation problems of evacuees.
