The Tunisian Independent High Authority for Elections announced that the voter turnout in the second round of the election, held to determine the members of parliament, was 11.3 percent, meaning that only 887,130 people voted. They also said that the election results will be announced in late February or early March and that some results may be partially or completely canceled after election violations and crimes are observed.
After the low turnout numbers were revealed, Ahmed Najib al-Shabi, the leader of the opposition, repeated his call on President Kays Said to resign.
The rate of voters aged between 23-35 was 4.8 percent and the rate of female voters was 32.36 percent.
