In the Araklı district of Trabzon in Turkey, the German Shepherd dog named ‘Fero’ waits at the grave of its owner Ömer Güven, who passed away 4 days ago. Ömer Güven’s children, who said that Fero cried with them when their father died, said that there was a special bond between their father and Fero. Stating that her father loved all animals, Sevilay Sürül said, “He loved Fero very much. Fero also had an incredible love for my father. When my father died, he was extremely sad. He did not eat for two days. He slept on the grave every morning until reading the Qur’an was finished. My father loved all animals, but he had a special bond with Fero.”
Central Mosque Imam Murat Gençtürk, who has been working in Kaymaklı District for 11 years, said, “This is the first time I have witnessed such an event. When he came to the mosque, his dogs would come with him. They would wait at the door until he came out. He used to spend a large part of his salary for his animals. May Allah have mercy on beloved uncle Ömer.”
