A fire broke out in the Beltala slum in Kaylyanpur city in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. After the fire, 14 firefighters and first aid teams were dispatched to the scene, authorities said. While the cause of the fire is not yet known, 400 houses were damaged by the fire, authorities added.
The residents of the slum claimed that it came out of a pigeon farm and a gas cylinder storage next to the neighborhood. An investigation into the fires has been launched.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed a new prisoner exchange with Russia, marking the first return of severely wounded Ukrainian soldiers held in Russian captivity. He called the operation an “important humanitarian action” and emphasized the need for continued exchanges.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, most of the released soldiers suffer from serious conditions, including limb loss and infections. The exact number of those freed will be disclosed after the process is completed.
Russia’s Defense Ministry also confirmed the exchange, stating that a second group of Russian soldiers had been returned from Ukrainian-controlled areas and are currently receiving treatment in Belarus before being transferred to Russia. The exchange follows an agreement reached in Istanbul on June 2.
