José Alfredo Cabrera Barrientos, the candidate for mayor of Coyuca de Benítez, was assassinated at the end of a rally in Acapulco, Guerrero State, Mexico, yesterday.
The Mexican Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection reported that at least 22 candidates were killed in the country before the elections, which are planned to be held on June 2.
