Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and 24 of her ministers, who formed the new government in Italy, won the first vote of confidence in the lower house of the parliament, the House of Representatives, after taking the oath of office yesterday. While 199 senators participated in the vote of confidence in the 200-seat Senate, 5 senators abstained.
It is the first time a far-right-led government wins the vote of confidence since the fall of fascism in Italy during WWII.
