Four people were killed and 2 policemen were injured after Mexican Gulf Cartel members clashed with security forces in Matamoros, Mexico. The operation, carried out with the participation of the Mexican army and the National guard against the cartel members, lasted for hours. One small truck, 9 long-barreled guns and many ammunition were seized in the operation. Two police officers that were injured during the operation were reported to be in good condition.
The city of Matamoros on the Texas state border is known as the stronghold of the Gulf Cartel.
