Mexico has sent 2,500 additional troops to Jalisco state following deadly violence triggered by the killing of CJNG leader Nemesio Oseguera, bringing total deployments to about 9,500, Defense Minister Ricardo Trevilla said.
Oseguera was killed in a military operation in Tapalpa, after which cartel members launched attacks across multiple states, setting fires and blocking roads. President Claudia Sheinbaum said authorities have removed more than 250 barricades and are working to restore security nationwide.
