Explosions continue at Popocatepetl Volcano in Mexico. According to the daily report published by Mexico’s National Center for Prevention of Disasters (Cenapred), Popocatepetl Volcano has erupted 12 times in the last 24 hours, releasing gas and smoke 196 times. Residents of Puebla and Tlaxcala have been warned to take precautions against possible ashfall and mudflows that may occur with rain.
Countries in the Ukraine Defense Contact Group have committed over €21 billion in new military aid, British Defense Secretary John Healey announced after a meeting in Brussels co-chaired by Germany and the UK. The UK pledged a record £4.5 billion for 2024, including drones and anti-tank mines. Germany pledged €11 billion through 2029, with plans to deliver air defense systems, tanks, and ammunition. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov thanked allies and stressed the importance of continued support against Russia’s increasing drone attacks.
