Migrant convoy of 4,000 people set off in Mexico

In Mexico, a new convoy of at least 4,000 migrants, mostly from Venezuela, Haiti and Central America, set off from Tapachula, in the southern state of Chiapas. It’s been stated that despite the hot weather, the immigrants were advancing to the north on foot and their goal was to reach the US. Irregular migrants, who left their country and reached Mexico from the Guatemalan border, stated that they decided to march, as they were not given the documents that they requested from the Mexican authorities in order to continue their journey to the US and that they were not given the documents that would allow them to travel legally in the country. It’s striking that there are a small number of women and children in the migrant caravan, which consists mostly of men. The immigrants, who traveled 15 kilometers on the first day of their journey, demanded that the Mexican authorities give them the necessary permissions to reach the US border by buses.
