Monsoon rains brought life to a halt in the northern regions of Thailand. Heavy rains caused many rivers to overflow, leaving many homes and workplaces under water. Authorities reported that approximately 46 thousand hectares of agricultural land were damaged and more than 10 thousand animals perished. The locomotive and two wagons of the “Special Express 13” passenger train, which operates between the capital Bangkok and the northern city of Chiang Mai, derailed and overturned due to floods in Phrae province, injuring one passenger. Meanwhile, a highway bridge in Chiang Mai collapsed this evening. No casualties were reported, as there were no vehicles on it.
