The death toll in Pakistan from floods and landslides caused by monsoon rains since June 26 has risen to 800, officials said. Pakistan’s disaster agency warned of more heavy rainfall lasting until September 10.
In neighboring India, swollen rivers and dams forced authorities to release water, raising levels of the Sutlej and Ravi rivers. Around 150,000 people in low-lying areas of Pakistan were evacuated due to the rising flood risk.
