The government led by Mateusz Morawiecki in Poland has fallen after failing to secure a vote of confidence from the parliament. Established just two weeks ago, Morawiecki’s government fell short of the necessary support, receiving 190 “Yes” votes and 266 “No” votes out of the required 231 for confidence.
Following this, the parliament moved to appoint a new government as per the constitution. Donald Tusk, leader of the Citizens’ Coalition, emerged as the nominee for prime minister, securing votes in the Sejm, the lower house of parliament. Tusk clinched the position with 248 votes in favor against 201.
Addressing the parliament after his election, Tusk expressed gratitude, stating, “Thank you, Poland. This victory is not just for me; it represents a new era where we’ll drive out darkness and usher in positive change.
