In Gümüşhane, the only province in Türkiye named after a precious metal, mountaineers embarked on a 14-kilometer nature walk through historic iron mines and war-era trenches. Organized by Gümüşhane Mountaineering, Outdoor Sports and Youth Association (GÜDAK), the program included 23 athletes exploring the Karadağ region between Kocadal village and Artabel Lakes Nature Park. The athletes ventured through ancient mining sites dating back to 2000 BC and witnessed the remarkable construction methods employed in earlier civilizations. Despite encountering snow-covered areas, overflowing streams, and remnants of Ottoman-Russian War trenches, they persevered.
