Hundreds of Muslims gathered in New York’s Times Square to break their fast and perform tarawih prayers as Ramadan began, despite freezing temperatures.

Before the prayer, participants voiced support for Palestine, chanting “Free Palestine” and condemning Israeli attacks on Gaza. Speakers emphasized Islam’s message of tolerance and unity while calling the violence in Gaza a genocide.

The large gathering drew attention from tourists and locals, with videos quickly trending on social media. Organizers, who secured official permits, distributed free iftar meals to 1,500 people. The event highlighted the strong sense of community among Muslims in New York.
