A mysterious illness has raised concerns in Kenya as 95 female students at Eregi Girls’ High School in Kakamega, in the country’s west, have been affected. The illness has left these students unable to walk, with their blood, urine, and fecal samples sent to laboratories in Kisumu and Nairobi for testing. No conclusive findings have been reported yet. While some experts suggest it might be a case of “mass hysteria,” others speculate it could be Guillain-Barré syndrome. Education officials are addressing concerns, and classes continue for other students.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova confirmed that Russia officially recognizes Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan. The statement followed backlash over Russian Vice President Vladimir Medinsky’s remarks referring to the region as “disputed.”
Zakharova clarified that Medinsky was discussing the humanitarian aspect of the conflict and urged against misinterpreting his words. Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry criticized Medinsky’s comments and reminded that Russia’s official stance recognizes Karabakh as Azerbaijani territory.
