NASA has released new images of comet 3I/ATLAS, a rare interstellar object that entered the Solar System after its discovery in July 2025. The images were captured by 12 NASA telescopes and spacecraft.
The closest views came from instruments on Mars, where the comet passed within 30 million kilometers. NASA says its heliophysics missions also imaged the comet near the Sun — a first for an object from another star system.
Data from multiple spacecraft will help scientists refine the comet’s orbit and better understand its structure
