NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte emphasized that Ukraine must be included in any peace talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. “It is very important for Ukraine to be closely involved in everything related to Ukraine,” Rutte stated ahead of the NATO Defense Ministers’ Meeting in Brussels.

New US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth defended Trump’s push for negotiations, dismissing concerns that it would betray Ukraine. Rutte stressed that any agreement must ensure lasting peace and prevent Russia from claiming Ukrainian territory in the future.
