On the second day of the NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting in Brussels, member state foreign ministers convened for the North Atlantic Council Session, joined by EU High Representative Kaja Kallas.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte welcomed increased EU defense efforts, highlighting the new White Paper on Defence Preparedness 2030. “The EU also aims to play a greater role in supporting Ukraine,” he said, emphasizing joint responsibility in a “more dangerous world.”

Rutte also underlined the importance of continued U.S. commitment to transatlantic security. Ahead of the session, Rutte met with newly appointed U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO, Matthew G. Whitaker.

The rest of the meeting continued behind closed doors.
