Over 46,000 People Evacuated in Floods in Kazakhstan

Floods occurred in the eastern, central, and northern regions of Kazakhstan due to heavy rains and melting snow. According to the Kazakhstan Ministry of Emergencies, 3,171 houses were flooded in Akmola, Aktobe, Atyrau, Kostanay, Pavlodar, and Northern Kazakhstan regions, and a total of 46,755 people, including 14,589 children, were evacuated. Additionally, 60,000 farm animals were rescued.

President of Kazakhstan Kasım Jomert Tokayev said that a state of emergency was declared in 10 regions and that the floods have probably been the biggest disaster to occur in the last 80 years.
