The horse racing festival known as Ghode Jatra is celebrated in Kathmandu, Nepal, every year on the new moon day in mid-March or early April. More than a hundred Nepal Army horses participated in the Tudhikhel course that day, which included equestrian parades, racing, and several other talents and performances.
Furthermore, it is believed that whenever kids vanished, the demon Gurumapa took them to the Tudikhel ground meadow. Then, the people of Kathmandu paraded horses on that ground to kill the devil, and thereafter, everyone celebrated by dancing over his dead body. The Ghode Jatra horses’ hooves are still said to keep the evil presence at bay, and Nepalese people still believe horses running to be lucky.
