New Wildfire in Los Angeles Forces 31,000 to Evacuate

 

A new wildfire in Hughes, Los Angeles, California, has spread across 9,400 acres due to strong winds, prompting evacuation orders for over 31,000 residents. Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna confirmed that 23,000 individuals have been directly warned to leave their homes.

Fire Chief Anthony Marrone stated that over 4,000 firefighters are battling the blaze, while the San Gabriel Mountains park has been closed to visitors.

Meanwhile, efforts to contain the Eaton fire (91% contained) and Palisades fire (68% contained) continue. Since January 7, wildfires in Los Angeles have destroyed nearly 16,000 structures, killed 28 people, and caused damages exceeding $250 billion.
