Nigeria has destroyed more than 1 million expired AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines. Faisal Shuaib, Director of the Nigerian National Agency for Primary Health Care Development, told reporters that Nigeria had to take vaccine doses with a shortened shelf life, as vaccine access was limited on the continent. “We have successfully destroyed 1,066,214 doses of expired AstraZeneca vaccine. We have kept our promise to be transparent to Nigerians,” Shuaib said.
Health Minister Osagie Ehanire stated that Nigeria will no longer accept vaccines with short expiration dates.
