A fire that broke out in a nightclub in Kostroma, Russia at around 02:00 local time killed 13 and injured 5. According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire spread over a 3,500 square kilometers area and the roof of the building collapsed.

Kostroma Regional Governor Sergey Sitnikov said that 250 people were evacuated from the night club and placed in bus stations and social areas. He also stated that the fire was extinguished at around 07:30 local time.

The Prosecution Service of the Kostroma Region stated that a multi-faceted investigation was launched regarding the incident, and the district prosecutor Aleksandr Fadeev carried out a private study at the scene.
