North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said relations with the United States could improve if Washington respects Pyongyang’s nuclear status and abandons what he called a hostile policy. “If the US respects our current status as defined in our constitution and abandons its hostile attitude, there is no reason for us not to get along well,” Kim said at a Workers’ Party congress in Pyongyang.
He warned that the future of bilateral ties “depends entirely on the US,” adding that North Korea is prepared for either peaceful coexistence or confrontation. Kim also vowed to expand the country’s nuclear arsenal and develop advanced weapons systems, including submarine-launched ballistic missiles and AI-based military technologies.
