NYC Mayor Eric Adams Faces Court Over Corruption Charges

New York Mayor Eric Adams appeared in court for the second time on five charges, including corruption and bribery. Prosecutors accuse Adams of accepting illegal foreign donations and tampering with witnesses. Adams pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutor Hagens Scotten stated that additional charges and defendants are likely, as the investigation intensifies. It is alleged that Adams tried to prevent a witness from cooperating with the FBI.

Adams’ lawyer, Alex Spiro, requested a quick trial and the dismissal of the bribery charge, aiming to resolve the case by March before the mayor’s re-election campaign.

Adams left court without commenting, signaling “all is well.”
