Maden clarified that ongoing studies have long identified potential oil and gas reserves in the region, dispelling notions that the announcement was an election promise. He emphasized the urgency of exploration efforts, citing a daily oil leak of 1 ton into the sea off Rize’s coast and expressing confidence in discovering oil through drilling activities.
