Clashes between Russian and Ukrainian forces have persisted for three days after Ukraine advanced into Russia’s Kursk region on August 6. Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the attack as a provocation, and Russian forces responded with land and air operations. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported heavy losses for Ukraine, with nearly 400 soldiers and 32 armored vehicles destroyed in one day. Four civilians were killed, and 38 injured in Kursk, prompting financial aid from the Russian government.
The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that Israel’s attacks on Gaza have killed 62,895 people and injured 158,927 since October 7, 2023. In the last 24 hours alone, 76 people were killed and 298 injured.
At aid distribution points, deaths have risen to 2,158, with nearly 16,000 wounded. The ministry also said 10 more civilians, including two children, died of starvation, bringing Gaza’s hunger-related death toll to 313.
