Over 100 sheep, lost in the fog, became stuck in a swamp near Lake Catyr in the Naryn region in Kyrgyzstan. Many of the animals perished, as seen in images shared on social media. Local residents quickly mobilized to rescue the surviving sheep.
Monsoon rains continuing since June 26 have caused devastating floods and landslides across Pakistan, killing 281 people and injuring 676, according to the National Disaster Management Agency. Punjab province was the worst hit, with 151 deaths.
At least 131 of the victims were children. Authorities warn of more rainfall through July 31 as the crisis continues to unfold.
