Pakistani women protested the hijab ban in Indian schools

Women in Pakistan rush into the streets to protest against the hijab ban implemented at several schools in India’s Karnataka state. Dozens of supporters of the Islamist political party Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan gave support message to Muslim students in India by shouting slogans with the banners they were carrying.

Meanwhile, education was suspended for 3 days in schools at Karnataka, due to the increasing protests and occasional clashes in the state. A two-week ban was imposed on protests near the city of Bangalore.

On the other hand, in the Indian city of Udupi students who wear hijab were not allowed to attend classes at a public high school last month. After the decision of the public high school, the headscarf ban began to be implemented in other schools in the state, and the students took the matter to the state high court. The court announced that it would decide whether the ban should be revoked after hearing the students’ demands.
