Hundreds of people in the city of Karachi, Pakistan flocked to Seaview Beach by the Arabian Sea where the air temperature exceeded 35 degrees. People ignored social distancing and mask rules, spent time on the beach despite rising number of new cases in the country.
The total number of cases increased to 942,189 and 21,723 died due to the virus so far in Pakistan.
Tensions continue between Cambodia and Thailand over 18 Cambodian soldiers captured during recent clashes on the Thai-Cambodian border. Cambodia demands their immediate release, while Thailand insists the soldiers are being held in line with international humanitarian law, with proper food, shelter, and medical care provided.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet assured the public that his government is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with Thailand and ASEAN members for their swift release. A planned diplomatic meeting in Malaysia to address the tensions has been postponed and rescheduled for August 7, 2025.
