Palestine’s Abbas Meets with Vladimir Putin in Moscow

Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas at the Novo-Ogoryovo presidential residence in Moscow yesterday. The two discussed the Israeli occupation of Gaza and Russia’s support for the Palestinian people.

Stating that he was following the humanitarian disaster in Palestine with great concern, Putin reiterated that they had sent nearly 700 tons of humanitarian aid of various types and said that they were doing their best to take every opportunity to support the Palestinian people. Stating that Russia had always advocated a peaceful solution, Putin said that all resolutions of the United Nations should be implemented and a full-fledged Palestinian state should be established in order to achieve a long-term, reliable, and stable peace in Palestine.

Following Vladimir Putin’s speech, Palestinian President Abbas expressed his gratitude to the Russian people, with whom he said they have been friends for decades, and said that they will not accept the expulsion of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, as has happened many times before in the 20th century, and that they believe they will achieve their goals with Russian support.
