Palestinians Commemorate Nakba Day with March in Berlin

On May 15, Palestinians in Berlin marked Nakba Day, which follows Israel’s declaration of independence in 1948, with a commemorative march. The event took place in Charlottenburg, a bustling district in Berlin, where demonstrators gathered to denounce Israel’s occupation of Palestine and the subsequent oppression of Palestinians. The march began with the singing of the Palestinian national anthem after flags and banners were displayed.

Under the theme “We live for the dead and fight for the living,” participants expressed their demands for justice, freedom, and the right of return for Palestinians. They mourned the displacement of 750 thousand Palestinians and the destruction of 500 villages and towns during the Nakba. Additionally, they condemned Germany’s role in supporting Israel’s actions and called for an end to arms shipments to Israel. The event highlighted ongoing global solidarity with the Palestinian cause and the quest for a free Palestine.
