Mother Maria Lucia and stepfather Javier, who went shopping by leaving their 3-year-old girl in a plastic water tank on June 13 in Mexican city of Chalco, were arrested on grounds of domestic violence. After interrogated by the judicial authorities, the couple said in their statement about the incident that they went shopping and put their little girl, who was alone at home during this time, in a water tank because they didn’t want her to harm herself. The little girl’s mother and stepfather were released pending trial, on condition that they give 10 thousand Mexican Pesos ($487) bail and sign at regular intervals, after judicial proceedings that lasted for about 3 hours. Authorities also reported that the little girl was taken from the family and placed in a state childcare center.

Thirty-eight of the bodies were reportedly identified by their families but the rest could not be unidentified and were taken to the Health Ministry’s Forensic Medicine Unit.
“We came to Shifa Hospital escaping Israeli airstrikes. During the hospital siege, an Israeli sniper killed my 29-year-old son Mazen Abu Aita. The Israeli army took us out of the hospital and I do not know where my son’s body is. Some family members told me he was buried in a mass grave, but I do not know where he is,” said a woman named Muna Abu Aita, urging authorities to help seeking for his son.
There were a total of 160 bodies buried in the hospital garden and the process of moving them would take several days, said the Palestinian Civil Defense.
