A truck carrying steel rails in Hamburg, Germany, failed to cross a level crossing in time due to the heavy load and collided with a train carrying at least 250 passengers, killing a 55-year-old passenger and injuring 25 more people, some of whom were taken to the hospital by helicopter.
A 103-person fire department and emergency aid team were on duty in the accident.
The truck driver was detained on charges of manslaughter and endangering railway traffic, and an investigation was launched into the incident.
