General elections have started in Lebanon. After 4 years, the people in the country went to the polls to vote. Voting started at 07:00 am local time. It’s announced that the ballot boxes in Lebanon will close at 08:00 pm local time, and that Lebanese residing abroad are also allowed to vote. Meanwhile, Lebanese President Michel Aoun urged the people to “choose what they trust and see fit to defend their rights,” in his pre-election statement. Lebanese Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi, on the other hand, stated on April 4 that a total of 718 candidates registered in 103 lists in 15 constituencies will compete in order to take part in the 128 seat Parliament.
