The Perseid Meteor Shower, one of the year’s most spectacular celestial events, dazzled photographers in the ancient cities of Sagalassos and Kibyra in Türkiye’s Psidia region. On August 12-13, as 90 to 100 meteors per minute lit up the sky, photographers captured this “falling stars” phenomenon against the backdrop of historical ruins. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Peter Talloen, who continues excavations in Sagalassos, observed the meteor shower with his team in front of the Antonine Fountain, remarking, “When we watch such events in the ancient city, it feels like the city is coming to life again.”
