The PKK’s decision to disband and lay down arms has been welcomed in Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government. Residents expressed hope that the move would promote peace and allow displaced families to return home.
Erbil local Muhammed Hurşit said, “This is the age of diplomacy. The era of armed struggle is over. Kurds should now seek their rights through elections and parliament in Türkiye.”
Calling the step “historic,” Fazıl Mehdi added, “We support political solutions. This decision will help strengthen peace among Arabs, Turks, Kurds, and Persians.”
The move is seen as a significant step for regional stability and peace in Türkiye.
