A passenger plane carrying 122 people caught fire during takeoff at the airport in Chongqing, China. The plane, which was preparing to depart from Jiangbei International Airport in Chongqing city in southwest China to Nyingchi city in Tibet Autonomous Region, experienced a technical malfunction during takeoff. The engine of the plane, which deviated from the runway, caught fire. It was stated that 113 passengers and 9 crew members on the plane were evacuated and more than 40 passengers were slightly injured.
An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
