Poland to build electronic barrier on Russian border

Poland will build an electronic barrier with a length of 199 kilometers and a cost of 373 million zloty on its border with the Kaliningrad region to increase security measures. According to Polish Border Guard Unit (Straz Graniczna) a contract with Polish company TELBUD has been signed and the construction process will begin in March.

The unit stated that the barrier system will detect physical activities thanks to its sensors, providing a comprehensive picture of the activity and constantly transmitting information regardless of terrain and weather conditions.

In order to prevent irregular migration from Middle Eastern and African countries, Poland decided at the beginning of last November to build 3 rows of razor wire mesh with 2.5 meters height and 3 meters width on the Kaliningrad border and built a steel wall on its 186 kilometer border with Belarus last year.
