The death toll from the Gloria Funicular accident in Lisbon has risen to 15, with 18 others injured, including a child. Officials said five remain in critical condition and confirmed foreign nationals were among the victims.
Eyewitnesses reported the funicular’s brakes failed, causing it to derail and crash into a building. Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas called it a “tragic day” and declared three days of mourning. The 139-year-old funicular is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions.
