A snowstorm hit the US state of Texas. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has issued a disaster statement covering 17 districts across the state as the snowstorm caused power outages and canceled hundreds of flights. Abbott said in a statement that the storm posed a threat of serious property damage, injury or loss of life in 17 regions, and said, “As part of this threat, I declare a state of disaster in these regions.” Abbott allowed all available resources of the state government to be used to deal with this disaster.
The winter storm caused power outages in Texas and other states, while 350,000 homes and businesses across the US were left without power. While more than 1,400 round-trip flights were canceled at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in Texas, 156 flights were delayed due to the storm.
