A massive power outage across Spain and parts of Portugal on Monday disrupted transport, mobile networks, and financial systems.
Spanish authorities confirmed seven deaths linked to the blackout. In Galicia, three people reportedly died from generator fumes, while others in Madrid and Ferrol died due to fire or health complications. An investigation into the incidents is ongoing.
Members of Italy’s opposition Five-Star Movement (M5S) wore black, white, and green T-shirts, representing the Palestinian flag, during a parliamentary session to protest the government’s stance on Gaza. Riccardo Ricciardi criticized Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s government for not recognizing the State of Palestine, despite widespread global recognition. Ricciardi accused the government of complicity in the ongoing conflict, calling it a “genocide” and condemning their support for what he described as “the greatest massacre of this century.”
