Widespread power outages across Spain and Portugal halted train and metro services, leaving thousands of passengers stranded at stations. Spain’s national railway company Renfe suspended all operations after the outage began at 12:30 local time, while parts of Madrid’s metro were evacuated. In Portugal, authorities reported traffic disruptions and closures of metro lines in Lisbon and Porto. Spanish grid operator Red Electrica and Portugal’s E-Redes said efforts are underway to restore power. Outages were also reported in parts of France and Andorra.
