Electricity has been largely restored in Spain and Portugal following a widespread outage that disrupted daily life. Spanish grid operator Red Electrica reported 99.95% power restoration, with all transformers back online. A state of emergency remains in effect in Madrid, Andalusia, and Extremadura. King Felipe is expected to lead a national security meeting on the incident. In Portugal, operator REN announced that power has returned to 6.2 million of 6.5 million homes. The cause of the Europe-wide outage remains unclear.
