Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, who sparked a debate worldwide by drawing an offending caricature portraying the Prophet Muhammad in 2007, was killed along with 2 other police guards in a road accident. The police car carrying Vilks, living under police protection, collided with a truck near town of Markaryd in southern Sweeden, leaving the truck driver wounded. An investigation was launched after the incident.
