Thousands took to the streets, demanding her resignation and setting fire to the house of Mujibur Rahman, the country’s founding leader and Hasina’s father.
The unrest follows weeks of demonstrations and civil disobedience led by student groups. Hasina, 77, condemned the attack in a live broadcast, stating, “They can destroy a building but they cannot erase history.”
