Protests In Morocco Leave 3 Dead, Hundreds Injured

Six days of youth-led protests demanding better healthcare and education have turned violent, leaving three people dead and 640 injured, including 589 security forces, according to the Interior Ministry. More than 400 people have been detained, while public buildings, businesses, and hundreds of vehicles were damaged.

The movement, led by the group “GenZ 212,” has called on King Mohammed VI to dismiss the government. Protesters criticized billions spent on 2030 World Cup preparations while hospitals and schools remain underfunded, chanting, “The stadiums are here, but where are the hospitals?” Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch expressed openness to dialogue to address the crisis.
