protests in ukraine against government over Covid-19 restrictions

Hundreds of people gathered in front of the parliament in Kiev, Ukraine’s capital, to protest the government’s stance on coronavirus restrictions and mandatory vaccination in some areas. Viktor Lyashko, Ukraine’s Minister of Health, responded to the protest, “I think such rallies that we see today, which include calls not to be vaccinated, ridicule our doctors and families who have unfortunately lost relatives due to the coronavirus. Believe me, the anti-vaccine spirit is fading fast in intensive care units, and fake certificates also don’t work,” Minister Lyashko said.

Only vaccinated people or those with negative Covid-19 test are allowed to enter restaurants, government offices, gyms, and public transportation in “red” zones, including Kiev. As of November 8, employees of enterprises, institutions, and organizations that are subject to mandatory vaccination (civil servants and teachers working in the specified institutions) will be temporarily suspended from work.
